Ethical Approval Granted

5 April 2012

The SES Research Ethics Committee has given Favourable Opinion for the collection of human blood samples for genetic reprogramming research.

This further REC approval compliments R Biomedical’s previous ethical permission for the collection of human skin samples from volunteers and patients for somatic cell reprogramming research. R Biomedical is actively involved in a SMART funded research and development project to allow the culture of cells from blood to further expand our portfolio of products and services for regenerative medicine research.  The process of collecting and culturing myeloid cells from patients is regarded as a less invasive means of obtaining cells necessary for this research and R Biomedical is attempting to provide this resource in a scaled and quality assured manner.   R Biomedical remains committed to working under the highest standards of ethics regarding patient volunteers and their partnership in the drive for new cures.
